About ANATHS
Leading the Way in Accessible Tourism & Hospitality
Our Story
At ANATHS (African Network for Accessible Tourism and Hospitality Sector), we are passionate about transforming the tourism and hospitality sectors into inclusive, accessible spaces for all. Our foundation is built on the belief that every individual, regardless of ability, should have the opportunity to engage with and enjoy the world’s tourism experiences. We work tirelessly to make that vision a reality through innovative research, education, and strategic partnerships.
Our Mission
Our mission is to conduct high-quality, accessible tourism and hospitality research that drives change and opens doors for underrepresented and access-need communities. We strive to bridge the gap in Africa’s tourism sector by enabling the full participation of labour and consumer markets that often face barriers to access. Our research, insights, and training empower the industry to adapt and evolve, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable future for tourism.
Our Vision
To become Africa’s leading facilitator in creating an accessible and inclusive tourism and hospitality industry. We envision a sector where accessibility is not an afterthought but a key component of its design, driven by research-informed insights and collaborative solutions. Our goal is to foster inclusive value creation across the tourism value chain and empower human capital development through accessible tourism initiatives.
Our Approach
At ANATHS, we take a two-fold approach to tackling accessibility in the tourism and hospitality industries:
Research & Insights
Our research dives deep into understanding the barriers and opportunities for accessibility within the sector. We generate actionable insights that influence policies, business practices, and industry standards to promote inclusivity.
Education & Training
We focus on providing targeted education and training for industry professionals. Through workshops, certifications, and specialized courses, we equip individuals and businesses with the knowledge and skills needed to create accessible tourism experiences.
Africa’s tourism potential is vast, yet many markets remain underutilized due to barriers faced by people with disabilities and those requiring access-needs services. By focusing on accessibility and inclusive practices, ANATHS seeks to unlock the full potential of the industry, enabling businesses to cater to a wider customer base and fostering economic growth.
